I’m Tom, a lifelong motorsport enthusiast. Like almost everyone that’s found their way to this site, I was drawn to the sim for the promise of high quality racing without the outrageous expense of real life motorsport. I was instantly hooked, originally on simcade games like Forza motorsport and the codemasters F1 games.
Over a decade of casual racing, I would periodically sign up for a trial of IRacing, only to quickly be disappointed by my lack of pace, and inability to make it into the top split. I lacked the knowledge necessary to compete at a high level, but perhaps more frustratingly, I lacked the funds to acquire the knowledge. With courses costing $200, and any halfway reputable coaches charging over $100 per hour for often sub par tuition, I would let my iRacing membership lapse every time.
In 2023 I decided to finally commit the time to understanding myself what was needed to drive to a high level. 300 Race starts later, I’d climbed to 5.3K Irating, officially making it into the top 1% of drivers on the platform. That was good enough for me!
Now, I want to share my passion for sim racing and driver improvement with the wider community, hopefully providing drivers with the chance I didn’t have, access to high quality courses and coaching, at prices that don’t break the bank.
With close to 200 hours of one on one coaching under my belt (a service I provide at not far off of the equivalent of minimum wage in the UK), I’ve distilled the essentials of sim racing into my first online course, “iRacing Fundamentals”.
The course, like my coaching, is priced at the minimum viable amount for me to be able to justify continuing this business on a full time basis. In future there will be two additional courses, discussing advanced techniques, but the iRacing Fundamentals course covers everything I wish I knew when starting out in sim racing.
